5.5 Exhaust Pipeline and Noise Control

  • If the pipeline has too many elbows, the exhaust diameter must be enlarged.
  • To reduce shutter noise, a secondary muffler can be installed.

Exhaust and Muffler Layout (Picture 3)

  • The exhaust pipeline can move freely within the frame.
  • The frame can support the muffler, but they should not be fixed together.
  • Bellow, heat-preventing materials, lined board, muffler, and bracket arrangement.

5.6 FDK-Cummins Genset Installation Mode Pattern

Single genset with soundproofing (85dBA within 1 meter). (See Picture 4)

Components Description

  • C: Genset neutral line
  • M: Cable ditch
  • FGY: Air entry
  • J: Cable ditch to power distribution room
  • B: Soundproof door
  • A: Fuel conveyor pipeline (for use with oil storage tank)
  • Exhaust pipeline, inner and outer guards, hanging rack, thermal insulation, alloy outer guards, bellow
  • Airflow, entry muffler, shutter, cable ditch

Special Installation Conditions (Picture 5 & 6)

  • Cooling for far-placed water tank, inflation water tank, radiator fan by motor start.
  • Radiator installation height depends on genset ventilation fan type.
  • Roof or wholly-sealed far-placed water tank installation.
  • Motor pump, stopping valve, soft connection, heat converter, and water tank for cooling loop.
  • Air circulation in generator room must be optimized for heat dissipation and combustion air supply.

5.7 Installation Requirement for Fuel Supply System

  • Daily-use fuel tank and oil storage tank for 8 hours operation; tank volume = genset rated power × 2.7 liters.
  • Fuel tank must be 1 meter higher than genset plane, but not too high to avoid overloading fuel pump.
  • Oil storage tank exit must be 75 mm above fuel tank bottom.
  • Tank bottom must lean 30 mm to prevent dust accumulation; facilitates obstacle removal.
  • After filling, discharge accumulated dust and water in 48 hours before reuse.

Fuel-feed System Layout

  • Without neutral fuel tank: ventilation exit, exhaust valve, oil storage tank, refueling pipe, oil indicator, overhauling place, support structure, filter, fuel-feed valve, fuel-feed pipe ≥ 500 mm, soft connection, genset.
  • With neutral fuel tank: ventilation exit, exhaust valve, large-scale oil storage, refueling pipe, oil indicator, overhauling place, support, overflow pipe to dust-collector, fuel-feed valve, double pump, filter, discharge gate, neutral fuel tank, volume switch, fuel-feed pipe, oil-setback pipe, soft connection, genset.

6. Electrical Cable Installation

  • Installation methods: uncovered, inside cable slot, buried, laid, or mixed multi-lines.
  • End line of genset must use soft cable to reduce vibration frequency.
  • Install cable connection box near genset to save soft cable length if distance to switch is long.
  • Connection boxes can reduce costs between switch, connection box, and distribution panel.

7. Regulation for Electronic Governor

FDK gensets are equipped with partly mechanical and partly electronic governors, ensuring optimal auto control functions such as auto paralleling.

Governor Control Unit

  • Installed in genset control cabinet (Picture 9): transducer, performer, rotation speed, gain, stability, governor, idling system, inner tachometer, rubber cover, gain, stability.
  • Switch C1 “On”; if drift occurs, switch C2 “Off”.
  • If everything is normal, switch C2 “On”.
  • Set Gain and Stability to intermediate positions.
  • Temporarily connect terminal “L” with “M”.

Regulation After Governor Start

  • During cold start, adjust fuel throttle to achieve rotation around 1500 rpm.
  • After water temperature rises, gradually reduce throttle to maintain 1500 ±10 rpm, the rated rotation speed of genset.
  • Frequency meter installed on instrument panel. If not present, calculate rotation speed with formula:
    Tachometer “n” = F × 60 / p (P = synchronous genset pole count, e.g., 4-pole genset P=2)
