SANY DEUTZ Power: Background and Development
The recent news about SANY DEUTZ’s D12 engine has sparked heated discussions. Many people are confused about why SANY DEUTZ suddenly appeared on the market. In fact, as early as 2017, SANY began cooperating with DEUTZ to develop a new engine, which is the predecessor of SANY DEUTZ. On September 28, 2019, SANY DEUTZ was officially established as a joint venture company.
The supply cut from Cummins accelerated the development of SANY DEUTZ engines for SANY heavy truck tractors. Therefore, SANY DEUTZ power is not “unexpected” but a “spare tire turned into a full one” under a challenging situation.
SANY DEUTZ Engine Platform
The SANY DEUTZ engine platform and pedigree have been preliminarily established. In addition to the D12 engine for SANY heavy trucks, the company has developed D05, D07, D09, D12, and D13 engines, covering both on-road and off-road versions. These engines will become an important power option for SANY construction machinery and commercial vehicles. Previously, the focus was on the D12 engine. Today, we will introduce the D09 and D13 engines, which will also be compatible with SANY heavy truck models in the future.
D09 Engine Specifications
- Power: 280-380 horsepower
- Bore: 117 mm, Stroke: 135 mm, Displacement: 8.7L, Inline 6 cylinders
- Maximum torque: 1500 N·m at 1000-1500 RPM
- Rated power: 280 kW at 2100 RPM
- Fuel system, starter motor, and generator are all supplied by Bosch, Germany
The D09 engine is widely used in SANY mixers, cranes, pumps, and city dump trucks.
D13 Engine Specifications
- Power: 380-585 horsepower
- Bore: 131 mm, Stroke: 160 mm, Displacement: 12.94L, Inline 6 cylinders
- Rated power: 380 kW at 2100 RPM
- Maximum torque: 2600 N·m
In 2019, the D13 engine was installed in small batches on SANY heavy truck 6×4 tractors. Under standard loading, fuel consumption on flat roads is about 30-33L per 100 km, outperforming competing engines with the same horsepower.
Quality and Technology Assurance
DEUTZ, as a leading engine manufacturer, provides strong technical credibility. SANY has fully adopted DEUTZ’s production lines and quality control systems and uses top global suppliers for engine components. For example:
- Fuel systems and sensors: Bosch
- Cylinder liners and piston rings: Tiberts
- Fans: BorgWarner
This ensures the highest quality of SANY DEUTZ engines and supports the “five-year unlimited mileage quality assurance” promise.
Future Prospects
SANY DEUTZ engines are ready for deployment. The all-new SANY heavy truck will feature the first D12 engine, available on June 28. In the future, other SANY DEUTZ engines will form a complete heavy-duty truck power lineup, providing users with reliable power and high-quality, cost-effective products.
